Assemblage Artist’s Statement, 2016
My assemblages begin with my passion for coIlecting ordinary things and curiosities — old things, found things and used things, odd things, creepy things, and unloved things. And I collect the intangible as well — ideas, visuals and mental imaginings. These unwanted, unloved, broken objects from both the human and animal worlds and combines them with the desired elements of the collections to form new single and singular objects that cause the viewer to hesitate and ponder.
I often collect that which appeals to my dark and cynical side, just as my assemblages then reveal a sometimes skeptical and sardonic view of humankind and the uneasy worlds that such a view inevitably demands….
